some help deciding on wheels
« on: February 10, 2010, 06:56:19 PM »
Ive been looking feverishly the last week for some rims and its very overweleming. Im looking for something in the 18x8 range gold/or bronze prefered. Ive looked through rotas and konigs and saw a few I liked but im not sure. If anyone has some pictures of some 18's on their suby and could post them it might help. Anyone with some advice would be appreicated.

They're not gold or bronze...but I'm pretty sure they come in different colors. They are 18x7.5 (I think) Katana Wheels. I'm pretty useless when it comes to remembering things off the top of my head, so I can't remember exactly what model...but they are relatively inexpensive.

I really like these..http://www.wheeldude.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=5918

I am just worried that the 18x8.5 would need more than just a fender roll, thoughts?

More specifics would be nice like your price range, preffered offset and weight, colors you definitely do not want, etc.

I would definitely rock these on my wagon if I could but since I can't, i'll forward them on to you.  They have been for sale in the clearance section for a while so if you like them, I'd send Josh at Import Image Racing an offer.

The gold looks off and I'm not feeling the chrome lip either.

Looking for

Gold
18x8 48ish off set

18x8.5 same off set

Im not sure if the 8.5 would fit. Im running cobb springs and would do a fender roll but not much else. Looking to spend around 1200 with tires. Also looking at the rota tarmac 3's. Sadly Price is a very limiting factor otherwise I really wouldent have an issue lol.

im running 17x9s with a 38et

youd prolly just need rolled fenders and alittle neg camber  and not a dumb wided tires  but that offsets alittle high
let me look

225's are small over an 8.5  you could easliy pull off 235

that offset should be fine check th agressive wheel fitment thread on nasioc to get ideas

this might help...plug in stock wheel and tire size on the left and play with different options on the right and it will tell you if it will be ok below. i love this tool

225/40 on 8.5" rims will have a stretched look if thats what your looking for

my 245/45 on my 9" rim has a slight stretched look.

17x9 with a +38 offset

flutyr525 what kind of suspension mods are you running? The rims that I found that are 18x8.5 are way out in nh...about a 6 hour round trip...so if they dont fit that would suck. There rota tarmac 3's with 80 percent tread or so for 800. My other imediate option would be to order the tarmic3's from wheel dude for about 800 and some tires for around 400. I would go with 235/40's as im not a huge fan of the stretched look.

edit -

ive more or less sold myself on the 18x8's +48 235/40/18's. I haven't read anything in my reasearch that says they won't fit, anyone know any different?

Well I think im set on the rota tarmic 3's 18x8 with 235x40x18 rubber. pretty sure it will fit no problem.

You'll have to roll the back fenders.  I had the same size wheels and tires on my wrx at one point.  The backs would rub under hard driving.
