Greetings from Po-town
« on: February 15, 2010, 12:02:13 PM »
Hey everyone! My names Amy and I'm from the Poughkeepsie/Kingston area, which is just upstate enough to land me here!  :-D

And this is my baby, a 2004 WRX STi putting out a feisty 351whp/353wtq:

It has a fully built block and has been tuned by EFI Logics in CT. Right now everything else is stock, but come spring I'm going to start in on the suspension.

welcome to the site! and nice car!

Its a car site, I expect it to be populated with more guys. I've been a girl in a guys world for a long time. I don't have any complaints being surrounded by large groups of guys

Very nice and welcome. Your close enough to join some of our Catskill meets!!!

I'm game! I don't mind going for a bit of a drive if its all for hanging out at a subie meet! Give me and time and place and if I'm not working, I'm there!  :-D

Nice car.  How long have you had it for?

Ah, the story of my car... I got it back in the middle of June 09 because the 04 STi has been my dream car for... ever. I was completely happy with leaving it in its bone stock condition that I bought it in, but the car apparently had different plans. Two weeks after I bought it, the CEL came on. A week after that, the stock turbo blew. I bought a new 18G TD05 turbo and put it on, called EFI for a tune. The day of the tune, the CEL came back on, so we did a compession test instead of the tune. It was inconclusive, so Chris at EFI suggested we replace the oil pickup. Did so and we found chunks of metal in the old pickup and pan. Emailed EFI and they said that if they had found that much metal in the pan, they'd pull the motor. So, was babying the heck out of the car trying to get from school and work and one day I let it go a little too much and... the second turbo blew. So, I gave up and flat bedded the STi over to EFI and had them pull the motor. Both the block and heads were trash, so I built bigger and better.

I probably didn't need all the stuff I got, but now I have a worry free motor that rips  :-)

I saw you had an 08 block but by "brand new heads," do you mean dual avcs?

Nope, still just have the Single AVCS on the intake cams.

Since both heads were completely shot, We had to order brand new '08 blank heads. IIRC the AVCS system is located on the cam gear itself, not the head assembly. The only difference between the old and new heads is that the '08+ heads have slightly different mounting positions for the oil lines.  :-)
