Misfire???
« on: February 15, 2010, 11:04:40 PM »
So I was driving today and all of a sudden my car started stuttering and crap then bam flashing cel which i believe means a misfire. So I am like fuck what could it be? I know the wires looked newish when i got it and I have only put around 4k or so on the car so I know they should still be fine but for I still decided to pull them out. So everyone looks good until i checked cylinder 4 (back drivers side one) and it has all this orange crap built up on it. Could it be a fouled plug? It went away but I doubt it will stay away. Could a loose battery connection cause a misfire? So yeah here is a crummy picture of what was I am talking about what is on the plug. Sorry for the crappy quality it was dark out. So yeah every other wire looked black and relatively newish without really any oil build up if any. So yeah only cylinder 4's wire looked all crappy. So what do yo think it could be?
EDIT
Oh yeah so the cel went away so I still decided to get the see if I could get the code pulled and all I got was an error saying it couldn't communicate with my ecu when i tried to have the code pulled.

This just happened to allison's corolla.  Replace the spark plug on cyl 4 and the wires with new ones.

If the plug has a small crack in it, it can allow Cyl Pressure to go by and that could possibly change the color of the plug boot.

So Change the plugs and Wires, good chance that will cure it.

I don't think it's fixable.
You should just swap a turbo drivetrain in.

Do you have 4k to give me to do such a thing or 2k if I do the jdm way. But yeah replaced my plugs, it was rusted in cylinder 4 so something got in their. Replaced it and it is running better now not sure about the ecu thing though. :buck2:  But yeah so far in the past week or so I've done plugs, oil change, tranny & rear diff change.  :buck2:
