Subie Newbie......
« on: February 18, 2010, 07:53:09 PM »
Hi all,
Wanted to introduce myself, just picked my first wrx up today. New to unysoc but i've spent a few wrench hours on my buddy Jay's wrx.  I live with my girl in schenectady. I am a previous srt4 owner/forum member......

A drunk driver turned this: 8/24/2009

Into this: 2/10/2010

We turned it into this: Today

70 miles deep and I'm already in love. The overall quality of the car is great. I'm used to driving a tin can with a turbo so I don't really have much to compare to. I did drive the genesis v6 track.... great low end torque and nice looking but, too small inside, rear wheel drive, not a great ride. The Mazdaspeed3.... strong smooth powerband and tech package with many features but, goofy looking and the interior was not up to par. Then the 2010 wrx hatchback.... sold. 1st stop short shifter.

Hey Was the SRT$ stage II , III?

Get some suspension mods to start with if you are gonna do  anything to the car.  :smitten:

Next year Dominic will be in town and you can get a protune.

Welcome to the site

1st stop short shifter.

The bushings make much more of a difference than the lever. You will not be disappointed with that setup 8-)

No.... it was mainly stock (sri, wires, eyelids, catch can, mount inserts, color matched interior, wingless trunk, tinted tails, rolled bumper, 3" o2 housing). Guess I don't have to worry about ruthless wheel hop anymore, just whiplash :-D. At one time I had a 3" e-cutout, scanguage working my way to 300 whp the welfare way but it never worked out. It was always spinning in a circle and going nowhere. If anyone knows someone with an srt4 that need a 3" dp brand new with gasket and hardware (dirt cheap) hit me up.

Something with some weight to it is nice. Honestly, if your wallet is really hurting, I'd just keep the OEM knob.

Those bushings can be had for 65 through  Oakas I think.. or at lleast the front and rear... That package seems a little high..

Ming do your short shifters work in these model years?

Ming's Short shifter comes in at 95 bucks..

95 bucks shifter
65 bushings..
____

160.

are those little bushings  for the rear side of the shifter linkage?

I have a Prodrive shift knob on my 5MT , It's weighted perfectly.

Welcome... I've Always used the Kartboys in all my Subies including the newest 08 STI and 09 WRX. They are always just right. Another great mod that wont hurt your wallet are the Whiteline steering rack bushings.

I got my Kartboy short shifter and bushings (f+r) for $164 from Spun Auto on nasioc.  It is definitely a nice improvement.

I got a Momo leather wrapped (with some metal) shift knob from evilSTI a while ago.  I like the extra weight over stock.

Yea on the srt I had a 72% throw reduction with a "pizzaboy" weighted knob made all the difference in the world.

The kit includes the lever, front/rear bushings, pivot bushings, and shift linkage bushings.
