Brothers '02 TS ECU
« on: February 25, 2010, 12:26:11 PM »
His mechanic says his ECU is fried.  So i went over to the shop to ask him what had happened and he said who ever installed the stereo fried the ecu.  ok.  So to remedy this, the mechanic got a new one to replace the "fried" one which he showed me but it says "auto" on it.

Now I don't know much about these computers but i was under the impression that If the car is a Manual, which it is, it would need a ECU in Manual form no?

I questioned the mechanic about it and he brushed me off about something about numbers matching what he orders or some other shit....

is this guy on crack?  wtf?

the problem is that his car isn't idling properly.. so therefore he thinks the ecu is fried but didn't tell me any codes or anything about how he knows this other than when they plugged it in, if they did, they didn't get anything...  :-o

anyway.. when the jack ass bushed me off with some other line, i wrote down all the numbers that were on the ECU unit he showed me.

on the unit itself:  T3 22611 AF402      A18-000 D8C 1518 made in Japan

on a seperate paper taped to the side:  022941  02 Imp RS   auto        and 540 59516

do these numbers mean anything thing to anyone?  Fred?  can you speak to this?

model year 02-03 non turbo cars use the same ECU, so yes it should work in his car.

Forgot to update.

they put the auto ECU in there and it didn't solve the problem.  The car won't hold its idle.  I don't drive the thing that much so i can't give many details as to whats going on with it.

any hoo.. thanks for the help.
