I need a battery. My only requirements are:
1. I can buy it locally today or tomorrow.
2. It doesn't leak all over the place like the Duralast pos in my car now.
3. And isn't retardedly expensive like the top of the line Optima batteries.

Who's go suggestions?

Go to Advanced Auto or any parts store they sell sometimes used batteries that work for a while. Also they have cheap, bottom of the line batteries for decent price

I have no problem dropping some cash, my limit would be $150.00. Anything more than that is in the retardedly expensive category.

If I remember correctly the batteries start at $65 and go up from there
I bought a nice interstate battery from auto-zone for $95

Optima Red top. I just got one From NAPA. good battery. it was under 150.

I previously researched this as well, the most popular batteries that work well for their price are the Optima's.

They come in a red/blue top. I can't remember but one is stronger than the other but the stronger one might take a bit more to crank over in the morning in CNY winters, but if you have a lot of gadgets that need a lot of power like a big sound system then the stronger one might be a better option.

edit: they are also available locally at most auto stores, someone mentioned NAPA. If you don't have the money for the Optima, go to NAPA and ask for the battery they sell that was made by Optima. They sell a rebranded Optima for a bit less.

edit2: the stronger one I keep getting at is actually the yellow top, not blue. blue is for another kind of application

i was going to say optima as well.

as for colors, they have red, yellow, and blue. blue are marine batteries only. red and yellow are for cars and trucks. i think the yellow are for if you have a big system or a lot of electronics. i am going with the red top and i know a couple other people that have the redtop

+1 for optima. I have the Blue top in my Baja and it's been great.

Bah. The Redtop sucks. Quality control in Optima's branch is generally regarded as shit. For every 3 we sell, 1 will come back having issues holding a charge. The other side is that Optima only offers a 36 month warranty, with a 1 year free replacement.

The 998675 is our variant of the Optima with just about the same CCA's, same case size and 84 month warranty with 24 month free replacement. It also costs considerably less than the redtop, is manufactured in Deka's East Penn plant with MUCH improved quality control and has a beefier plastic case than the Optima while retaining all the fancypants features.

If you haven't installed your Optima yet, i'd recommend returning it unused and picking up Napa's 998675 instead.

.. I drive the Black Saabaru In EG and usally come to NAPA all the time and buy Hydraulic fittings if I don't have em in my truck..

OR is it Nate Can I get a small discount on a battery ? Mine is going on Five years..

and my passport keeeps going off low voltage .. but I don't know if my Passport has to be callibrated because when I put my meter on it .. shes right at charging voltage....

Starts up ok..

May or may not see me there. I drive the red jeep, usually out on the road taking care of the store's commercial accounts.

He ended up with a Red Top. You're one of the lucky ones it seems, if yours has given you no drama.
It seems i may have spoken too soon on the 998675 unit. Looks like our local stores and warehouse sold out of them with this storm that hit. I'll have to see who has them in the region and snag a couple.

Get something with high CCA's and the same size group. Preferably as long a warranty as you can afford.
And:
1.) Stay away from Exide
2.) Stay away from Exide
3.) Deka batteries rock.

[exides are now made of recycled poop from old batteries. dekas = fresh cores]
