I've been searching this too... Jay mentioned to me I need to do something with my clear tails and I have to agree. I came across some all reds you mentioned figured I'd share. I'm diggin it.

I like the partial red best, it looks alot more professional, classy, and like it should have come that way.
I think the all red has more of a "just throw some film over it" type of look.  Not horrible, but not great either

It also covers your reverse lights if you go all red.  I know failing inspection is a badge of honor for some, but not for me.  :police:

unfortunately, im at work and cant see pixs but I know batmobile overlays have a nice style.  The center reverse is clear with red around it.  I like that much better than the full red...granted, I dont think the tails are as bad as i once did.  Grown on me I guess.

the all red looks HORRIBLE on the 04-07 wagon in that one pic. the all red on that white sti looks good but i think the original post is the best with the reverse section left alone

Has anyone in the area tried this on their 08+ hatch?  I looked at five different places here in Glens Falls and not one carries either paint.  Is there some place from 'Toga to Albany that carries the Krylon transparent red paint and Rust-Oleum clear coat?

what kinds of places did you look in, auto paint departments, or craft stores?
Jo-ann's Fabric has a big selection of Krylon and other paints, I'd try giving them a call

I looked in Walmart,  Home Depot, Ace, Advance Auto, and Lowe's.  I guess I'll try Sears, Sherwin Williams, and Jo Ann's tomorrow.  I heard Michael's may have it, but the nearest is Clifton Park.

don't forget hobby stores, like model trains and cars and such.  If you have any of those nearby they might have some

Tried Sears, Jo Ann Fabrics, and Sherwin Williams with no luck at all.  Sears can get it through a third party source, but the one can of red paint would cost $14.  I guess I'll try Michael's in Clifton Park next.  I have to go down Thursday anyway.  Should it really be this tough to get the paint and clear?

The clear can be a basic clear coat with UV protectant.

I looked for months for the krylon paint from albany to cuse.
I eventually welnt with Velspar brand red.  DONT do it.  It was more of a pink and ended up doing heavy coats to get it red but then it wasn't very transparent.   Ill post up pics tomorrow if I remember   Overall it was a piece of cake to do

Yeah, I'll be down there on Thurs.  I'll give them a call to make sure they have it in stock.  Did they have clear as well?

After talking the 3 different people at Michael's I found out they do have the red paint in stock.  The second woman I talked to was a beotch and told me they did not have it and never did.  What a joke...

Mine did fade a bit after a few months. Tips I learned from first time... clean and tape thourghly. Give time to dry between coats. And 2nd time around I had a collision shop I work near use car clear coat as extra protectant. If it protects cars from fading then it'll be good for tails. If u decide to do that u need around 3 good coats of your clear otherwise the car clear they use will lift the red paint. But won't lift the enamel
