so, if Im cruising around slowly in second gear and let off the gas to slow down for a turn, I get this whine that sounds alot like driving the car quick in reverse. doesn't seem to do it in other geras that I've noticed yet.

'03 wrx
120k miles
just put in extra-s in the last 10k miles or so
fluid level is fine

thoughts?

This is only in second gear?

do you feel any vibration or anything from the drivetrain?

seems to be just second, yeah. and there is a little roughness to it

it seems okay when shifting and accelerating, only when leaving it in gear and letting the car slow down on it's own

if you've got experience with bad tranny noises, you can take it around the block when you want to get those roof rack bars

my tranny makes all types of noises and feels like garbage every once in awhile

Mine does this too - both my 200+k mile transmission and my ~100k transmission. My '06 Outback did it too. And my STi. Straight off the lot.

damn, I missed this. I was just in Clifton Park today too

if weather permits, I'll be working on the car tomorrow, so won't be driveable.....but I could easily run up your way after work monday or wednesday next week. I'll PM you to work it out, and to consider something else I had in mind

but, does it do it just in one gear? It'd worry me less if it did it in all gears. I don't remeber my last wrx doing it this badly

my 6 speed wines all the time...when under load its minimal, when slowing down or coasting, its really apparent. its been like that since fred put her in last summer.

Yes, 2nd gear. The 6 speed was REALLY noisy, but the three other 5 speeds I've used all made the noise too.

yea my 07 sti with 12k miles does that makes that weird reverse noise when im in 2nd slowing dowwn .. i was gunna bring it to the shop to check out ... everyone says fred at capitalland? And also i have another problem when i brake i seem to hear a clunkin noise... this is just great....

actually i have the exact some problem on my 04 wrx. its only in second gear when i'm slowing down, but it hasnt affected my cars performance at all. let me know if you find any solutions

first and second gears in my car make the car sound like it has a supercharger. its really loud when i slow down in gear (first or second)
