02 Legacy Questions
« on: April 07, 2010, 10:02:58 AM »
So a friend of mine just got slapped with a $1900.00 laundry list of things that need to be fixed before a shop will issue an inspection sticker.  To make matters worse both front calipers froze up so the car is currently stranded at the shop.  This shop recently did the brakes on the car and they are giving the standard "its not our fault" response.  My plan is to head up to VT this weekend to fix everything but I need a little bit of info so I can prepare for the repairs.  I know we have some former Legacy owners who will know the answers to my questions and maybe have some random parts laying around.

1. Brakes: Are the front calipers/rotors interchangeable with 02-05 WRX parts?  I know they are on Foresters.

2. Springs: What years are interchangeable with a 2002 Legacy wagon?  Anybody have a set laying around, all I need are the front springs?

Thanks in advance,
Dan

1.  Yes, the calipers will bolt right on.  The front rotors may not work with them though.

2.  2000-2004 Legacy sedans and wagons had the same front springs.  2000-2004 LGT's and Non-Gt's will all fit each other.  I have Baja Turbo front springs/shocks/tophats(stock). I think that the struts are way to tall but the springs may work with the legacy stock lower perch, just throw the tophats on with the springs.    You can have em for test fit if you want, if they don't work i'll take em back and if they do, your buddy can keep em for free. You might wanna check www.sl-i.net, they have some members in the mass/vt area that may be close enough for a meetup parts purchase.  I won't be around tonight but would be willing to hand off the parts at my place in Waterford tomorrow night.

The stock turbo Baja suspension sits about the same as an Outback IIRC, so I would imagine the springs would be a little too high for a GT/L.  I think?  I really only want to change out the one spring if at all possible.  Thanks for the generous offer.  I might still take you up on it depending upon what I Cahills has available.

Oh yea, the stock baja turbo suspension is FAR taller than even the outback.  Best of luck :-).  WRX springs might also fit, but you at least need the upper tophat to hold the spring.  I have a bag of stock wrx sedan springs also, Free, from our very own webmaster ED's old cheese wrx.
