base map quality -UTEC

early this summer i'll be installing a perrin uppipe, turboxs utec, and a cobb tbe. i know that a custom tune is better than the  base maps that come standard on the utec, but my friend and his mustang are pretty eager to race me, so im not sure how much money and time ill have to get a good custom tune by then. so basically my question is how much better is a custom tune than a utec base map?

I'd say a custom map is good enough to prevent your engine from exploding under race-like conditions.  Gonna say a base map isn't meant for that kinda stuff.  Correct me if I'm wrong, more knowledgeable folks, but a UTEC base map is more to get the car to a tuner, and not like a Cobb Accessport OTS map which is sub-optimal but fine?

It's a generic base map similar to the Cobb. He would be fine running it. Just datalog with it to make sure.

Make sure that you do some brake and suspension mods soon after your power mods

haha yeah im deff getting a pro tune shortly after, im just wondering if its gonna be arite to drive, and push a little bit

i ran on my 02 an uppipe, and full tbe for like 2 months ripping on it befor a tune...no problems lol

i thought em was only an issue with the 2.5 motor with a tbe
