Dom's checklist and tips from years past...
Quote
Due to the shear quantity of cars to be tuned when I come out, you too need to be ready.

In order for me to get everyone in, the following must be complied with:

1. No loose hoses.  Double check everything. Can't have any hoses blowing off during the tuning.
2. New plugs (10k miles or less), of the same type and heat range you will be running all the time.
3. Sealed exhaust.  Small up pipe leaks or header leaks will only get worse when we start pushing the car during the tuning experience. Make sure the system is tight and gaskets are good quality.  If you need shit, get ahold of Fred NOW and get them in.
4. No installs.  To clarify, I will not have any extra time to install anything. Or for that matter, wait for people to install something. It's going to be non stop tuning for me when I am there. Trying to tune 6 cars a day requires cars to be ready.  If you have to install injectors or something, get there early and be ready to be the last car tuned. Byron will be leading any install efforts.
5. Be on time.  Again, I have lots of cars to do. So waiting for someone isn't going to work well for everyone else.
6. Bring money. Self explanatory.  Wink
7. Gas.  Have a full tank.  The extra weight is good for engine load and tuning boost control.  Plus the extra volume of gas actually makes your car faster. If you need an explanation of why, post a question in my IC engine tech on my forum.
8. Shit happens.  Things break sometimes that are beyond our control.  If this is your car, it will be pushed to the end and be tuned last provided it can be fixed.
9. Drive that bitch.  If you are the type of person who can't drive the car aggressively when needed, then let me know and we'll get someone else to drive.  When I say I need some full throttle pulls, that means MASH the throttle.
10.  Tire pressure. Make sure all your tires are properly inflated.
11.  Be realistic.  Factory 440cc injectors and a td04 aren't going to pin your head to the seat. I'll squeeze out as much as I can safely.

Last but not least does anyone have an inflatable queen size mattress?  I offered for Dom to stay at my house with his girlfriend but the twin bed in my spare room isn't going to cut it. haha.

I may have one you can use, Byron.

I have a few doctors appointments this afternoon, but I'll check when I get home.

1.  I have a queen sized inflatable bed with no leaks.

2.  Can I sign up just for a set of dyno runs (3)?  I don't need/can't get a tune.

3.  Sticky/unsticky done.

I'm in for a dyno tune.

I have a queen sized box spring, not that it helps you at all.

Can't help but laugh at that.
I DO however have 2 full beds with mattresses spring boxes and frames tat I am donating to the salvation army. If you want one for a week and can transport it you can use it then donate it yourself. Just a thought.

When we wired my wastegate shut, there was definitely head-pinning.  I also recall dom hanging out the window and whooping as we went by Byron's.  :2funny:

i wish i had the money to get my car a turbo upgrade and pro tune. not even the dyno is worth it for just a turbo back exhaust.

I bet you'd be surprised...any other tune on a dyno is 500, this is a good deal for a great tuner..

A decent tune is the number 1 thing you can do for your car.  It made the suby so different, even bone stock.  I wish I could get a tune for the IS300 but it just plain isn't worth it because of the stupid hardware I have to buy.

How many maps would $200 get me?

I have a netbook and plan to get a tactrix cable so I was hopping to get numerous maps (power, fuel economy, valet mode possibly?)

Id contact dom via e-mail n see what he can do for you...do you have the accessport? Idk if all that would be worth it honestly...everytime you would have to change a map with OP it would get old quick.

Your not planning on running just a generic opensource tune/map for a while are you? I would not recommend that...

Fuel economy and valet mode shouldn't be too difficult to create. The power tune should be all you'd need from Dom...

Why is that? People run the Cobb base maps all the time.

As long as the car is responding to the map fine, there isn't an issue.

Do not have and do not plan to get an AP.  I just figured it'd be cool to have other options if possible.

Well we do know ots maps from cobb aren't the greatest, but yet "safe" to say the least...

How are you sure that his OS map is anything like cobbs? And is safe to run with say my driving habits? Not saying it is horable, but you might as well buck up, spend a little extra cash n get a tune to where u can beat the piss out of the car n feel better knowing its not goin to grenade.

Just putting examples out there...you can do what u want spanky just giving you ideas to think about.

my thoughts are,

if i get a tactrix 2.0 right now and do a base stage 2 map. then every time i get a new part i can add to it. if thats right. then when i have my major mods ready to go in, ill get the pro tune and my car will be complete.

if i do get a pro tune now. then every time i get a new part, will it affect my tune. i dont want to spend the money on a pro tune when i still have a lot of things to put on. i know i could get the money for this by the time he comes around. but thats also more mods i could get too.

also i dont know if my car is ready for a dyno or tune. i still have a problem with my boost. during heavy loads like going up a big hill in 3rd or 4th (i dont use 5th). the boost gauge goes back and forth from 10-14.5psi. i also feel the car doing this so i know its not the gauge. ive changed my spark plugs, fuel filter, cleaned my k&n filter and my fuel pump sock. it helped alittle but its still not fully fixed.
