C/f hood vs. winter
« on: November 25, 2003, 01:22:47 PM »
I just got offered a trade: my stocker hood for a c'f one. Yeah, I know, great deal, but how does c'f hold up over the ugly winters we have? I know from the meet that nobody has a c/f hood, but does anyone know how well they hold up? Is it even an issue?

Only thing I can think is the cold might make it fragile... I'll try to do some research and see what I come up with.
Eric

Quote me now while I'm feeling good about it.  I've decided a WRX will be the vehicle that replaces the Jeep.  I can't see paying Evo prices or justifying purchasing a halfassed/beat to death example for the same asinine amount of money.  For an affordable, point to point, all-weather capable performance car, a wagon fits the bill.  A swapped wagon, even better.

I'd think you'd be all right. If it was made correctly it should hold up to extreme engine heat and normal extreme cold.

Although not all manufacturers build to the same par.

If its a straight up trade I'd say go for it. Make sure the weave looks half way descent first though. I've seen some nasty hoods.

One final note on this.
The c/f  hood had some small chips in the front end at teh beginnign fo the winter. By teh end, the heat cycles turned them into cracks that propigated the length of the hood. Bottom line, make sure your c/f is in good shape before the seasons change.
