« on: August 17, 2004, 03:31:35 PM »
ive seen a lot of lightweight pulley systems online and they claim big horsepowergains like from 10 -28hp. for around $200, anyone have any info on whether this is at all accurate and what companies make good pulleys its the next mod for me but im wary...

I'd say 10-28hp is BS. It's a very small piece and there is still the heavy flywheel attached to the other end. You may see a little quicker revs but I don't think the butt dyno will tell the difference. Also if you allready have a lightened flywheel I don't suguest the pulley. It will throw CELs and it's really not worth it. Also try and stay away from the underdrive ones they will spin the alt slower and the power steering pump as well.

I have the $35 ebay pulley on my rs. I like it alot. I do feel the power steering is stiffer espacially on hot days when the tires/ground are hot. And I do see my lights dim at idle. But never a problem starting the car and no real problems otherwise. I think I had to go buy $20 worth of new belts but it was still cheaper toal than most pulleys out there on the market. And on a side note, I have the TB racing lightweight pulley(not underdrive) on my STi and it is lighter than the underdrive pulley on the RS, go figure.

i've had the GFB pullies on my car pretty much since I bought it. They helped reving a little, but not a huge noticable power gain at all.

I'm putting the Unorthodox racing pully on my car now....

my UR underdrive is up for sale if you want it.  My stereo and entertainment system was too large for the slow turning alt. With the lightweight flywheel the car revvvvvvved SO fast it even made shifting hard.
