I'm hating mine lately. Damn thing reboots CONSTANTLY, battery drains while sitting with the screen off overnight (so alarm doesn't go off and I don't get up on time)

I've gotta figure out what, of the 3 million things I've installed, is causing these problems  :x

One issue I've had before adding a bunch of apps though, it likes to crash on me if I'm on the phone and someone texts, or if I'm texting and someone calls.  And I can't seem to talk longer than 5 minutes without it rebooting itself
might be time to root and see what happens.......

Are you sure? *wink wink*
Eric

Quote me now while I'm feeling good about it.  I've decided a WRX will be the vehicle that replaces the Jeep.  I can't see paying Evo prices or justifying purchasing a halfassed/beat to death example for the same asinine amount of money.  For an affordable, point to point, all-weather capable performance car, a wagon fits the bill.  A swapped wagon, even better.

it knows your a dirty whore. Its trying to run from you. lol.

But yeah, time to root. I did it on my EVO and its like falling in love all over again with the phone.

I can tether @ 3g with no problem and without paying. I changed my boot screen, I changed/added tones for txts and what not. I mean, once you root, you have full control..its great.

Lol thanks for the input Boris (best movie ever.)

Yeah, I'm going to research it a bit. Last night I only lost 10% battery over night.....ironically, the only thing I did different is not open the program that checked my battery life before going to sleep....so it may have something to do with that

I started out as a droid fan. Bought it right when it came out. broken a few and I am on my third one. All have had the same problems. It is a great toy/computer/gadget. It does everything great EXCEPT be a phone. The phone fails constantly. My job is mostly on the phone so I log about 100-150 calls a day. Often the phone freezes or stops working. I will make a call and it says calling then freeze. I can navigate the phone but the calling feature is open and frozen. Can not close it. That or I will be on the phone with someone and all of a sudden they can not hear me. I have to pull the phone from my face, put in the code, and back out of the screen it is in for it to work. It is to the point that when people can't hear me they know why and wait. I'd like to say I am the only one with this problem but I have 6 of these phones in my company and three other people complain about the same problem. I am just a standard phone user so if you have to "root" a phone for it to work then I guess it just is not for me. I hate this thing.

I guess the battery is good though. It lasts me all day even though I am always on the phone. I do not play on it as much since I got the IPad. I will probably get the IPhone when it comes to verizon. I will trade one set of problems for another I suppose.
Whoever smelt it dealt it.

ugh, thanks for reminding me.  I still haven't rooted my phone, and it's rebooted on me 3 times in the last hour without touching it .  Plugged in it stays running all day, unplugged it's a nightmare some days

It's pretty lame that very few phones are actually good out-of-box.  Root, Rom, Flash, etc, all this bullshit just to get the phone to be good.  I have an HTC Hero, and it blows at being a phone.  Although I can log ECU parameters to an Excel Spreadsheet....  What a joke.    Jitterbug !  Ha.

well, it's like anything else.  you try to cram more and more into a single unit and quality of individual tasks starts to diminish.
then you include corporate dealings and you suddenly have things like facebook apps and skype and others that can't be uninstalled and run in the background constantly because they paid verizon to bundle it with their software package

I've owned laptops that don't browse the web as well as this phone does, and digital cameras that don't have a tenth of the quality as these phone pictures.  But I've never had a phone that decides it has to reboot because it can't handle more than 5 minutes of being used as a phone, or freeze because I pull the phone away from my head to check the time and it has to switch the screen back on. Or my personal favorite, rebooting if I get a text while on a call, or get a call while typing a text

IME, my HTC Incredible was a fantastic phone before rooting it. Just like WRX's are pretty good cars before you modify it.

and the WRX is a lot more expensive than the phone.

I decided to mod my phone because... well... I could. It also, consequently, made it significantly better for my purpose. Did I need to root/mod it? No. Did I want to? yes. We all could get by driving electric scooters, too.

that's the problem though, my Droid X isn't a fantastic phone in stock form.  I'd be rooting to try fixing reliability issues and getting rid of 'bloatware', not for overclocking or trying to push performance above where it should be

We have two DroidX's here and both have had similar complaints. We put LibertyX rom on one of the phones and it fixed all of the problems he was having. No need to overclock, its just more stable with that rom.

I must be somewhat lucky.  Haven't had any problems with my X in a long time. Then again, I never call anyone or on the phone, unless I need to be. 5-10 calls a week maybe
