STI SWAP!

that's one option
(but it's sooo much more shifting it seems, for just one extra gear  :-D)

You hardly notice, and its a nicer shifting trans. You also can take off in second gear without a terrible amount of slippage, so really, not even that much more shifting.

Quote me now while I'm feeling good about it.  I've decided a WRX will be the vehicle that replaces the Jeep.  I can't see paying Evo prices or justifying purchasing a halfassed/beat to death example for the same asinine amount of money.  For an affordable, point to point, all-weather capable performance car, a wagon fits the bill.  A swapped wagon, even better.

ummmm, it was very noticable to me, otherwise I wouldn't have mentioned it  :crazy2:
I find in city driving it's hard to find a comfort zone were I'm not in to high a gear, to low a gear, or speeding  :-D

don't get me wrong, I wouldn't change it back, it definitely has more pros than cons (i was joking when i said "just for one extra gear"), I just find that one little aspect of it annoying

Sorry, the "you" really should've been an "I"
Is yours an 04 or 05 trans?

In my '04 4th gear was perfect for around town (25-40) and having 5th gear be short was excellent for quick passing on back country roads. Granted, this was a stock engine STi so the power band was definitely shaped differently than the highly modified monster you've got.

actually, mine is an '06 tranny
I pray that I never break anything on it, it's the part of the car I have the LEAST info on, but from looking through the previous owners past threads, I believe it was something like the 06 tranny with the '06 sti driveshaft and an R180 rear diff with custom axles to retain the 5x100 hubs.  Unsure of the clutch/flywheel, but I know my left leg gets tired quick in this thing

You're going to need  A LOT more than that to keep up with a 400whp evo. An evo with 400whp should run mid 11's..My car would probably have a tough time pulling on a stock turbo evo with cams and e85. From what I've seen STI's need around 50hp more than an evo to keep up with them..Hell go to an STI vs EVO event..Evo's are FAST..end of story. But if you want somebody to shut him up, send him my way :knuppel2: Is this the kid with the red Evo I met during car show?

Sad but true.  E-town videos make me sad and want an Evo on top of the easy and ridiculous power gains.  Ours in general will always sound better though IMO.

No Evo hatch.... plus the lancer hatch is like looking at a naked supermodel with a penis.
