08+ WRX Seat Mod
« on: October 29, 2010, 09:36:51 AM »
Not sure if anyone on here with an '08+ WRX has done the seat mod.  I did it on my '10 and now my '11 and it makes a world of difference.  With this mod, the seats will actually hug you more and it just feels so much more stable and comfortable.  It's pretty simple, but here's what to do:

1) Unzip back of seat
2) Locate the metal rods (3) hooked on each side, which you may need to create a small opening in plastic to access
3) With pliers, unhook the metal rods from the plastic pieces.  I did both sides, but should work with just unhooking one side
4) Zip the seat back up
5) Sit in seat and feel how much better it is.

Obviously this can be done for the passenger seat as well.

It seriously takes 5 minutes or less.  You can always hook the rods back up if you don't like it.  However, I think anyone that does it will wonder why they never did it they day they took delivery.

Yep, did this recently on both front seats. I love my seats now. They hug me and feel much more supportive on the sides. Good deal.

Nobody mentioned the seats weigh like 9 tons, swap that shit out for some real seats.

I ended up doing this the other day, I *think* I notice a slight difference..   haha  then again my back is wider then the damn seat so my back basically just rests on the curved parts, it's not like I can actually sit back in it and have them wrap around me..   maybe if I didn't work out ever I'd notice a difference.

I hate this so much. This is why I liked the '04/'05 USDM STi seats.

Quote me now while I'm feeling good about it.  I've decided a WRX will be the vehicle that replaces the Jeep.  I can't see paying Evo prices or justifying purchasing a halfassed/beat to death example for the same asinine amount of money.  For an affordable, point to point, all-weather capable performance car, a wagon fits the bill.  A swapped wagon, even better.

I loved my 08 seats stock.  anyone wanna trade for a clean set of bugeye seats?  they are very nicely side bolstered without any mods   :-D,    plus they probably only weigh 30 pounds a piece, so that's over 8 tons of weight savings per Dave.

I noticed this when i went to swap in my Legacy seats in to my bugeye .  The legacy seats were farkin heavy compared to the bugeye seats.
