Riddle me this...
« on: November 24, 2010, 08:13:31 PM »
Does anybody make a wagon A-pillar that fits 60mm gauges? I see that lotek one but it says it'll only do 52mm. I'm looking at this guys gauges on nasioc, and he is selling 5 defi's for the price of 3. I could always sell 2 that i don't use, but i guess if i got them i could use them if i had a good spot to mount them. I don't really want to take up my glove box, and i would prefer not to put 2 60mm gauges right in the way of my instrument cluster.

from what i hear, about an inch (because ours are a little taller, a little baller). i guess a sedan one fits but looks not seamless at the bottom. i know this would bug the shit outta me.

Should work out lovely.  Most any gauge should have enough shoulder to hide any small imperfections in the ID of the pod after you Dremel it.  Good luck

All he has to do is register the business with the local authorities and/or claim the extra income on his taxes... nothing the IRS can deduce from a web page.

That being said, looks like he does decent work and might be the best option.
Eric

Quote me now while I'm feeling good about it.  I've decided a WRX will be the vehicle that replaces the Jeep.  I can't see paying Evo prices or justifying purchasing a halfassed/beat to death example for the same asinine amount of money.  For an affordable, point to point, all-weather capable performance car, a wagon fits the bill.  A swapped wagon, even better.

really? It took me about 5 minutes from going to the forum page to finding his name, address, myspace profile and possibly even his other profession  :-D
I'm sure the IRS could use that info to find out if he's claiming extra income.  I'm just saying I don't think it's likely that they'll stumble onto him to know to even be looking

Well, yeah... but I'm thinking 10,000 tax evasion isn't worth doing that much investigation on, unless he gets audited ;)

Neither here nor there in the context of the thread, though.

I agree, 100%, just making the point that there's enough info out there if they do need it

so, are we far enough off-topic yet?

its all good i dont really give a shit. almost all of the shit i post is OT.

anywho,

i contacted lo-tek to see how much it would be for them to build be a wagon a pillar with 2 60mm holes in it. just out of curiosity, because if its only gonna be like 60 or 80 or something im just gonna do that so it looks better.

edit:or should i just get the thing with the 3 holes, dremel them out, and then later on down the road get a wide band

well then, as long as we're given the okay for staying off-topic: i wish there were a couple more options on placement.  I need to relocate a couple gauges but have never been a big fan of the lit up "hey look at my shit" side window view you give other driver with the a-pillar setup

I need to still be able to see them  :|
the blue car has the AFR and HydraMist gauges on the steering column, and it just blocks too much of regular gauge cluster (almost ran out of gas once because I couldn't see the gas gauge LOL)
have boost, egt and oil pressure in the clock pod.  Could hide the egt probably, but since it eats oil I like haivng the oil pressure visible.  Maybe I should look into a single din stereo with a fold out display, and cram some small gauges in the lower din

or maybe rip apart the AFR and find a place to mount just the little square LCD screen since the readout is only like 1"x1.5" rectangle mounted in a huge round gauge  :idiot2:  Then tuck away the egt somewhere out of site and move the hydramist to the clock pod once I get that system hooked back up

that, or maybe make a custom box to fit above the mirror between the sun visors.  I hate when the sun shines through that section anyway

I suggest the classic hand drawn 'awesomeness' gauge to fill the hole in the mean time  :-D

Got the lotek triple pod in yesterday. Looks good, I'm just gonna have to make the 52mm in to 60mm. Does anybody know the best way to do this? dremel? knife?

also

I need to still get my triple pod for the dash, and I am curious to see what people had and what they liked. I want something that is going to match my dash well. I hear the defi's come unpainted and would have to paint it. What about ati or zero sports(expensive)? thanks
