I need to still get my triple pod for the dash, and I am curious to see what people had and what they liked. I want something that is going to match my dash well. I hear the defi's come unpainted and would have to paint it. What about ati or zero sports(expensive)? thanks

I've got an ATI pod in my car. Give me a shout and you can take a look. I've wanted to find someone with the Lotek pod in their car anyway...

Devin, a Dremel is likely your best option.  Just don't be too enthusiastic when removing material.  I've done that sort of operation w/ a knife before, and it's a pit of a pain to get things pretty.  Not that pretty matters when the gauge shoulder is covering your handy work..

i bought one that was a hideous silver carbon fiber because it was on clearance when no one would buy it.....a few coats of plasti-dip later and it matches real close

Can you snap a pic of this? I think I'm gonna get the ATI pod after seeing Matt's, but if I can get the color closer by plasti-dipping I wanna do that.

next problem:

I can't find too much information about this on here or nasioc. I got an oil filter sandwich adapter with the gauges I bought, but I've been reading that some of them don't work on the 2.5L without bending coolant lines and bending a heatshield. And I've also read that the GReddy one will work without modification to the coolant lines and heatshield. I'm fairly confident I don't have the Greddy one.

Has anyone put one of these on a 2.5L before, and if so which one did you use, and did you have to do any modifications?

edit: It might be this one:

 Why not use this ? :    http://prosportgauges.com/subaru-oil-galley-plug.aspx

You can also get it right from Subaru I believe.

can you get oil temp and pressure accurately from that one plug?

edit: Isn't it a pain in the ass to install that fooker?

I'm assuming that it would work fine for both pressure and temp.  I've never used it.  Just another option, since there are like 3 of those oil galley plugs on your motor.  It looks like popping off the intercooler would allow you to use that one hole w/ ease.  Just throwing it out there.

Edit:  I like it over the sandwich plates for the simple fact that it puts your oil connection up higher in the engine bay.  Just seems safer than placing your oil filter even lower than it already is.

Marty and I installed my oil temp in the galley plug under the I/C, and it wasn't too difficult. You have another one behind the alternator (I'm pretty sure the OE oil temp gauge goes here).

i don't have any pics of my pod in the car...and it's in the blue car right now, under a pile of snow by now...it's not something that's really going to show up as a match or not from pics though
I did the same on the silver trim in my yellow car though, if you want to see that in person?

Want a crazy perfect match? Buy a vinyl repair kit, mix your own color to match your fade and press in the matching texture

As for the oil galley plug...it's damn near impossible to get a sender intalled there without taking everything apart, but the remote sending kit goes in fairly easy without removing anything, assuming you have the right tools

Now that I have my suspension in, I can move to the gauges. I am going to buy an ATI pod and the remote oil pressure sending unit (which comes with the oil galley plug). My question is, can i buy a a tee for the galley plug and use that for my oil temperature gauge also?

I am thinking about getting a wideband gauge too, should i buy it before i put the gauges in and do it all in one fell swoop?

Anything with a question mark is the stuff i am unsure about. Also, i think im gonna have to call marty on this one because im in over my head when it comes to electrical, plus i haven't seen/heard from him in a while and some beers at the house are in order.

List o shite to buy

ATI pod
oil pressure sending unit
1/8 tee?
2nd galley plug?
heat shrink wire wrap?
teflon tape
Wideband?

For EGT
header gaskets
1/8th tap for header
metal hole saw for heat shield (for wires)

For Water Temp
water temp sender radiator hose adapter
bought upper and lower hose too, so i shuold probably drain and fill the radiator eh?
rad fluid and conditioner

Anything else you guys can think of that i might need let me know.
