Sorry for going MIA.  I'm busy as all hell with school/life.

I hadn't plan on selling it immediately, and remain with that plan.  I have numerous PMs, and I apologize for not getting back promptly, I'm just running through this 48 page paper that should never get published, and I'm... well apparently I'm part of the publisher, so I have to fix it.

I never meant to get anyones hopes up, and I know it's an attractive car at the price, and I'll surely post it here when/if I do sell, but right now I just need to re-diegest my options and mainly get this crap paper to the presses.

Well then, I've been MIA from this thread for long enough.

Here's the deal, I'm applying tomorrow for a loan for a used car.  I've been driving this since I posted and, again, it drives fine. (apparently I haven't been driving much because the car still has roughly 80,000 miles (think it was at 77,000 last January).  I drive to and from work and not much else (and to and from school when I was there).

There are some new problems to report, but a little history is necessary (see first post for total issue with the car).

I recently found out I passed the NYS bar exam.  Working towards that end is what I've been doing since my last post here. Because of that, I've encountered new problems.

Two weeks before said bar exam the rear right brake locked up as I returned home from Rochester from a slam-bam-cram session.  I couldn't fix it and needed to get home.  So the rear right brake is... well it works but it needs replacing (replaced the pad/rotor, but the caliper actually locked up so much that it "grinded" down a bit on the rotor).  Strangest thing I've ever seen. Because I was in cram mode for the Bar I just replaced the pad/rotor and made functional the caliper.  Because of said lock up, and the brake pad grinding to a pulp, the product of said grinding fell upon the wheel and that wheel now has a fine coat of what I like to call "brake matter."  It's basically covered in a coat of rust.  So the total wheels are now 6 wheels with tires because of the a fore mentioned dent in one of the others (see first post in this thread).

Additionally, the accessory belt pulley apparently locked up and melted.  I was unaware of this when I went and bought a new belt last week. Halfway through putting on the belt I realized the pulley was melted. WTF? So that will need replacing or there's no AC and whatever else runs off that pulley.  For some strange reason I put the belt on, and then realized what I had done, and taken it off (cut it off).  So it needs a belt/pulley.

Finally, somewhere along the way the front left spring broke.  No idea how, but, as that occurred during bar study, I just left it (after lifting the car and turning it to functional placement).  It's currently jerry-rigged to prohibit rattling because I didn't have the time to disassemble the strut to take off the broken part and fixing it.  To be clear about 1 full turn of the spring broke off, but, oddly, it doesn't appear to be any lower on that side than the other. Consider it a "Honda-boy" mod.  Chicks dig it.

Oh, and there must be an exhaust leak as it sounds louder, but the BPM is loud anyway so it might be just my ears. I've laid under the car and have not been able to find it, but it's certainly louder.

Now, as much as a piece of shit as this sounds, it's otherwise a strong running car.  I've continued to replace the oil and otherwise maintain it, but it needs to go.  Still haven't gotten it inspected and only got pulled over once for that (inspection was due in October or November of 2010, this is a personal record for me).  Because it's not inspected I can't get it registered and that goes up in 4 days. Regarding this, any test drives would be welcome, but would also be subject to penalties because the lack of inspection/pending lack of registration.  Where I live is right by Rt 85 in Albany, and there's sufficient roads nearby that the Police don't commonly patrol so I wouldn't worry about it, but as someone else would be the driver my lack of worry makes sense.

I have to go into work right now but I PROMISE post photos when I return tonight.

I'd like to start the bidding off at $1,001 which I think is completely fair and likely on the low side.  Someone will take this, put in the money (probably 3,500-4,000) and walk away with a very nice car.  But that person is not me.  Or you could just part it out, but I don't have the garage or time to do that.

I have the title and have a letter from the bank through which I had a loan which says that it is no longer subject to any loans.

What you would receive? See fist post of thread of better details, but you'll get a 2002 WRX MBP with roughly 80,000 (I'll check again before I post pics) with 2 good wheels on it, 1 dented (probably unfixable) wheel, 1 wheel with a nice coat of rust on it, 3 good tires (the dented wheel also has a dented tire, may be fine if put on a good wheel), and a set of wheels that have snows on them (winterforce?) but they're possibly subject to rust on 1 of them as I put the snow on the wheel the day after the lock up prior to going to the store for parts and the tires are outwardly worn because of prior toe-in (sithing on outside is warn, inside is fine).
Also, you get my left over parts which may include an oil filter or two, and includes random things I received along the way like fuel injectors, a turbo timer and random nuts and bolts.

Again, while it seems like I'm a disaster with this car, it's just what life dealt me.  I have maintained it well enough to make it worthwhile.

So, apparently I was wrong about the mileage.  It's still under 80k.

JDM bungee-cord plate system.

There's an Unamused sticker there somewhere.  Also, this tail light has no cracks.

This taillight has two cracks.

This is looking down on the damage in the rear.  The bumper is, I believe, where it should be, the trunk is what was pushed in.  The car that hit me was taller, so it never really got the bumper, but it did crack the bumper cover.  Don't mind the dirty hunting equipment.

"Rusty" wheel.

Bent wheel.  Kids, don't do donuts in the snow with summer tires.

None of the photos properly capture it, but the trunk is pushed in.  I imagine someone could technically pull it out, but I'm guessing its just as cheap to find a replacement.

Sorry the photos are crap, I had just a t-shirt on and it was a rush job because I was cold.

Since no-one else said it...congrats on passing the bar exam!  Waiting for the damn results is the hardest part.

Do you have a legal job lined up?  We are "staffing up" so to speak so there may be openings.

Yes congratulations. From what I have been hearing, the local legal job market is bad, so take the man up on any offers of help. Me, I'm in the jaded older solo category, so probably not much help. Join the ACBA, the young  lawyers section should be helpful. And watch your back!  :-)

Thanks for the offers of help regarding employment.  I'm currently at an appellate court for a 1 year clerkship, which ends next fall.  So technically, as soon as I started I got closer and closer to getting fired.  There's a chance they'll keep me on, but I'm not expecting anything, my co-workers are extremely smart and there's more of us then there are possible carry-overs.

Feel free to PM me regarding employment situations, would very much appreciate it.  I did well enough at Albany Law, currently clerking, resume is packed with similar experience and buzz words that employers should hopefully like.

But the legal market is crap.  I know Albany Law claims something ridiculous like 90+% employment in JD preferred jobs, but they're getting sued for those numbers, which tends to suggest they're inflated.  My personal knowledge of my own class puts it more like 60% and that's going high.  "JD preferred" is a misnomer.  I'm sure Wal*Mart would "prefer" a JD over a high school drop out, but they'd just as likely hire both if there were two positions.

I replied to the PM's.  Someone e-mailed me but didn't leave much information.  They referenced this board but I don't have a clue who it is.  If you're reading this, please PM me or just reply to my email back.

The AD likes to bring in new blood in the fall; the clerkships are technically one-year terms but you can migrate into an appellate court attorney position.
They also bring in outside attorneys to fill some of the more senior court atty. positions, but that's political. A lot of senior people left already, as you know.
I know Jeff Weyent and the new guy Joe Rotello pretty well; 2 new judges there, too.  Spain is taking senior status although he retired. I would hang tight. You are good until at least the Fall.
{I am assuming 3rd dept.}
There will be ada openings with the new DA next year in Albany, Allah willing.

Yes. Come to think of it, that would leave an opening in the conflict defender's office, too.
