Just... wow.

Would just give me one more reason to move out of new York.

Quote me now while I'm feeling good about it.  I've decided a WRX will be the vehicle that replaces the Jeep.  I can't see paying Evo prices or justifying purchasing a halfassed/beat to death example for the same asinine amount of money.  For an affordable, point to point, all-weather capable performance car, a wagon fits the bill.  A swapped wagon, even better.

I just read that. I can assure that they will not get that money from everyone. I live in the middle of no where, my bike usually doesn't leave dirt roads.

That is the dumbest fucking thing I have ever heard of. Instead of encouroging healthy behaviors and lifestyles we are going to make people pay for the NYS govt unability to balance the budget. I will definitely be joining in on any and all local Mass Crit rides to protest this.

oh my god......that's the most retarded thing I've read all month!  What the fuck do they need to get paid for for people riding bikes?  I mean, I know car registrations are supposed to support maintaining roadways.....but a freakin bicycle??

If the money was slotted for installing bike lanes on more roads I would support it, but I highly doubt it is. I have 3 bikes that I ride regularly and intentions of buying another one. That would be $200 for me to get some exercise. I am not a fan of that.

It would be nice to know if I beaned a stupid unaware motherfucker on a bike he had insurance.

In reality though, the expense for implementing and enforcing this is probably a lot higher than they're estimating.  As in: more money than they could ever possibly make.

but in that sense, enforcing that will make them money in the long haul from tickets.

Didn't Andy Cuomo say something about no new taxes?  Isn't that the reason he wasn't going to renew the millionaire's tax?  Sounds like a new tax to me.  Another example of the wealthy being supported by the average guy.

Generally it's a stupid/unaware driver that causes about 95% of the incidents on the road anyway.

Im game for this, i have 3 bikes(soon to be 4!)

This wont gain any steam. There are to many bikers out there that will protest this. I paid enough in taxes for my bikes, i dont need to pay any more.

Sick of this shit.  NYS government is completely disconnected from the public.  They have no ability to do what's required of them and they don't give a damn how hard they need to choke their voting base to do it.  Really sick of this.  Next time we have elections, i'm just voting for whoever is NOT in office.  Vote the bums out.

This will never happen.  I live in a community where the majority of residents collect welfare, so many of them ride bikes or walk.  Does this mean that my tax dollars will help support their bicycle registration for NYS?  Reality......There is a job for everyone who strongly desires to work.  The only real way to pump money into the NYS tax base is to give less handouts.  If I can piss in a cup for my job, they can piss in a cup for their handout.  Less handouts will equal more people that are gainfully employed, and more tax dolloars pumped into our state.

Nevermind how much money they'd spend trying to enforce these ridiculous laws.  Most likely this will die somewhere before even being present as a bill to be voted on, but how much do we pay these ridiculous motherfuckers to come up with this retarded shit?  Are they going to make you register and get a license plate for your kids Heelys next?  Do you have to pay more if its a unicycle versus a bicycle?

How would they enforce it? They would have to require you to ride with your license at all times. I dont always ride with ID on me. How would they know who I am or where to send the ticket? Would they haul me and my bike to the station until I could provide them with ID? It is just assinine. I feel pretty certain that I could shake a cop car on my bike in the city.

how much do we pay these ridiculous motherfuckers to come up with this retarded shit?

This is the largest source of my anger.  I'm not expecting government employees to be economical geniuses, really.  I'm not.  They're government employees and worse, they're union workers, which means they're dumber and less productive than normal people.   Challenge me on that point and I'll fucking kill you where you stand.

What we NEED is to cut out the bullshit handouts to assholes on welfare and unemployment,  fire more state workers and cut their benefits back to make them comparable to,  oh I don't know,  any NORMAL corporation on earth with a solid 401k plan and discount health insurance.  I've had it with all these stories from friends working for the state, bragging how they have hundreds of hours of sick time available and how they're selling four weeks of vacation BACK to the state at the end of the year because they can't have more than EIGHT WEEKS of vacation on the books at the close of a calendar year.  Everyone knows it's bullshit, because everyone wants to work for the state.  We already have obnoxious taxes on products and services that cost more than most anywhere in this country.  I have friends who are smoking weed right this second on their living room couch who haven't held a job in two years and according to them, they aren't really ready to "go back into the workforce just yet."   And they wonder why I have major psychotic fucking hatred for them, as I get up at 5:30am every week to help pay for their full cable/internet/netflix and cell phone plans and their right to eat pizza and get baked at noon on a weekday.   Get rid of the waste and the despotism, hold people accountable and fucking stop inventing asinine taxes and surcharges while pretending you're being thrifty with the budget.  You're fucking all of us because you're an incompetent state government that can't pass a budget on time, much less pass one that we can actually fund.

NY is awesome.  I would like to raise a family here and have my children do the same.  And we would all ride bicycles together, maybe even tandem bicycles.

Shep or whoever said it, is right-on.  You want Welfare, you want Unemployment, you piss in a cup.  End of fucking story.  I work for my money, and I get tested.  Too many scumbags getting their free-on.  Within the next 5 years, I'm out of this shit hole.
