Mala's 2011 STi "Stanley"
« on: March 15, 2011, 08:49:16 PM »
So...I'll start with the back story.

Had 2008 WRX that some of you remember. Made me fall in love with the whole "tuning" aspect and power of what these cars do. Had an 04 all stock and thats what made me get the 08 and start modding.

Now I love the new body style with flared fenders, ordered 2011 WRX and realized, for a few bucks more, might as well go STi and have something I'll probably not want to get rid of for quite some time.

Thus, since he's SWP I've named him "Stanley"

I plan no real mods in the future for Stanley and he's gonna be mostly stock except for some aestetic mods and a borla hush. I will be tuning him in the near future after the catback by STi Mikey again, for a better tune that this stock shit...DD tune, real passive.

Mods to come:
-Hella Supertones (Paint Matched)
-RA Mudflaps
-Rain guards
-Debadging
-Borla Hush
-Dyno Tune
-50% possibly 40% tint

There will be a documentary of his progression in this thread. Pics to follow....

Those are the factory pre-cut holes. They didn't drill into the bumper. I will probably be putting the STi plate on front.

Plate bracket is definately coming off. I just didn't have a screw driver in my hand and it was freezing balls outside when I was doing this...so I didn't want to walk back in and out. I'm doing that tomorrow when I bring him to work with me. But I figured I had to leave the AWD on, for moron tow truck people.

I am annoyed that they took the AWD off the rear windshield as a sticker, then I wouldn't need to leave it on.

yup, i'd put that on and ditch the badge
I like seeing that put on the lower windshield, no one will tow your car without writting down the vin, so they're guaranteed to see it there.  Anywhere else and they'll say they never saw it

Dude, trust me, I want to move the STi badge, but I'm petrifyed that I'll put it on crooked. And if I DID move it, I would replace it with the JDM Black/silver chrome one that looks insane.

Trusting me with a level is a dangerous thing...

Somehow I see paint being scratched, and the shit still being crooked.

Mayyybbeee. If you try not so hard to make it straight you'll actually manage to put it on straight. Put lots and lots of glue on it. Close your eyes and smack it on. :-) I want pics after you do that too.

Holy shit, I just seen my car (one just like it) drive past my store with the headlights and tail lights blacked out. It looked amazing...now, I know the headlights would make no sense, but the tail lights with a very very light tint might look insane. What products can do that?

there's about a million DIY threads on tinting your style lights either red or smoked.  are you looking to spray? or use vinyl?

You should know already. DIY + Me= disaster.

So, I want something pre-done already that all I have to do is clean it, put it on, go have a beer.

Whatever will tint is slightly but allow still a good amount of light to pass through.
