Under the seat subwoofer
« on: March 19, 2011, 11:50:39 AM »
Been debating on these for a while and I am close to pulling the trigger. I am not looking to knock anyone's socks off or get into any competitions. I just want to add some more bass to my currently stock speaker system and JVC head unit. These very cheap and should add the little bit of quality I am looking for. I carry a lot of shit in the hatch so I need to keep that acccesible and uncrowded. The only thing under my seats now are stale fries and empty cigarette packs. 90% of the time it is just me in the car so I am not looking to wow anyone.

Offer up any opinions. Anyone have these installed?

Well, I've got this one in my '09:

Looks to be pretty much the same thing.

It's not bad, but my stock nav head unit doesn't seem to be able to push it.  It came with my car...I'm glad I have it, better than not having it I guess.  It does add some "stock" sounding bass.

Have you checked out anything like a bass tube?

I'm no car-audiophile or anything, but the last bass tube I heard years ago sounded better than the one I have.

The OEM one is nice and compact though, sits right under my driver's seat.  Convenient.

Maybe somebody else will pipe up with what they've done...  :?

I'm in Albany if you ever want to check it out for yourself before you buy.  Won't be apples to apples, but at least you'll be able to hear it (or a similar fascimile).

Hey, I had that oem one in my 97 brighton and it was awesome to me. I am a normal guy, as far as speakers are concerned, and have rarely craved more than stock speakers. I do like matching gear, however, and couldn't have lived without the upgrade.  anyway, if you're not heavily into audio, it really fills out the sound.  It was super easy to put in too.

I had the OEM underset subwoofer for a while that Freddy gave me.  I liked it, it filled in the music pretty well.  Obviously it isn't made for super loud hip hop or anything like that.  When I put the 10" sub in the trunk I kinda missed the underseat, it became too much for anything except for really heavy hitting songs.  I think a nice 8" might be more my style.

Hoping i'm not too late.  IMO underseat subwoofers are a waste of money.  They make barely any bass and you want your bass behind you, not under you.  Simply put, they don't produce.  If your interested i make the hatch enclosures, but even if you don't buy from me don't wast your money on a underseat sub
