My zip ties are more discreet than yours, but I got sick of messing with the stupid pop-clips, so most of my rear and front bumpers are held on with them.

At least you don't have rotor so warped it locks the breaks sometimes...

Those gold rims do look good against the white, though.

I understand why we upgrade from the drums, but having towed a 2000lb trailer, loaded with a 2000lb car, using a 4800lb tow vehicle with rear drums and front rotors of the 9" variety...  And having driven my VW, which has un-boosted 4-wheel drum brakes, and locked the wheels...  I can't imagine it's necessary.

I hear the RSB makes a world of difference, though.  Why did they never get installed on wagons...?

Which? the quarters?

I agree, and disagree, i understand that drums are fine for normal driving and such, but the shit i put my wagon through... yeah yeah, its a 1.8, i keep the revs between 5 and 6k the entire run on spier falls rd. My brakes are strong for a good chunk of the run but they start to fade fast, and need additional pumping, but mainly, i hate drums, crud gets in there and they make all sorts of noises, just annoying, plus rsb is a big plus...

I suppose in the brake fade sense that's fair, if only it's harder to find performance shoes.  Thing is, the rears are only doing 15-ish% of the braking because of the weight transfer, so I would expect any fade to be coming from the front.  How did you know it's the rears?

It's weird, because out of all of our cars, I think most of them have at least rear drums, if not 4 wheel drums.  The Subaru, Jag, Fiero and Lotus are 4-wheel discs, but everything else has rear or 4-wheel drums.  I don't know why they're still putting them on the rears of modern cheap cars, I don't think they're less expensive, and they don't need them for their self-boosting nature anymore.

I can't really say it's not necessary, though, because I went and put coilovers on a street car.

yeah the quarters lol
i pop rivited metal on and bondo, better than rust, still not pretty, someday i'll rip it out and weld in metal...

Still first step is rear brake conversion, with rsb then bigger brakes up front. piece by piece.

So i figure i should finish this thread.. Car got traded, for a ranger, kept my lips and such, sold the 3 piece sti one for 150 on rs25, still fixing the "chargespeed" one, for learning purposes.. Well, the kid who got my car, traded it for a lifted jeep, and i know the other kid who got my car from school, so its kinda funny. But he's going away for college, so i won't see my car anymore!!! Haha. As far as me, im building the ranger, and lookin for a miata right now. Really want a blue one in the worst way...
