"Milestone"
« on: May 17, 2011, 06:43:41 PM »
Today marks one week without a cigarette.

I've only saved ~$25 so far (a pack lasted me 2-3 days), but I do feel quite a bit better. It's tough sometimes at work, since I have a few co-workers who smoke, and I'm so used to having one in the morning, after lunch, etc.

Next step is kicking the Skoal habit again...

Congrats buddy! I would work on one at a time so be good with the cigs and then tackle the dip. If you kick the dip though...your going to have to create a new screen name :2funny:

Keep the faith.  After long enough you'll lose track of how long it's been and then it's way easier.  I stopped sometime in the fall and have saved tons of money...though I used patches instead of dip...

$25 wouldn't have lasted me 3 days of smoking at prices they charge today  :uglystupid2:

This is the tough one...I've done it a couple times in my life.  The gum is very helpful as is Wellbutrin depending upon your level of addiction.   Between studying and fishing during law school I developed a serious habit; Wellbutrin worked like a switch for me.

Keep it up, it's worth it in the end.

Gum, sunflower seeds, nicotine patches, Welbutrin, and Chantix never worked. The issue was my self-control...

My doctor told me that a tin has a nicotine equivalent to four packs of cigs, so it's not surprising it's so tough to quit :|

Good luck quitting, Matt.  It's been 5 years for me.  It was tough but worth it.

Good work Matthew.

Thats a new turbo  :-D

Its also lowered blood pressure, increased cardiovascular capabilities, lower chances of hardened arteries, etc. etc. etc.

Just sayin'. Nice job so far, Matt!

Quote me now while I'm feeling good about it.  I've decided a WRX will be the vehicle that replaces the Jeep.  I can't see paying Evo prices or justifying purchasing a halfassed/beat to death example for the same asinine amount of money.  For an affordable, point to point, all-weather capable performance car, a wagon fits the bill.  A swapped wagon, even better.

Congrats man, it's hard.  It's been about three months since I've bought a pack.  I do occasionally have one if I'm offered though.

I'm glad I never started dipping.  The whole spitting thing kept me away.

Keep it up Matt!

The hardest times are when you're having a beer, so make sure whoever you're drinking with knows to smack you if you light up.

Next step is kicking the Skoal habit again...

Every morning when you get up, swallow a giant mouthful of the Skoal.  Unless you are way more bad-ass than I've imagined, eventually it will work...
