Awesome, how much are you looking for for those? Any difference between the wrx and stip UP besides maybe mileage?

Got my DP in the other day. Looks to be in good shape and ready to go.

Also, the CATBACK I ordered from DNA Motoring arrived today.  Came in a beat-up box that was definitely not new with part of the pipe tearing right through the box. There was also a ding in one of the pipes which doesn't look like it could have been caused by shipping. There was bubble wrap and foam to protect it from itself, though. Also, I called DNA before purchasing to ask if there were gaskets and bolts included since it showed up in their picture but made no mention in the product description. The rep told me that it did include all gaskets and bolts.  Mine did NOT come with any gaskets or bolts.  But hey, what do you expect for $150.00 ? I'm still going to call up tomorrow and get my hardware though.

Pics below (crappy cell phone pics) for anyone interested.

something has to be missing in that post.  The catback from DNA is under $150...their up-pipes are $55

also, what's labeled as Up Pipe pics shows a Cat-back.....i'm betting just a brain fart while typing it out  :-P

hahaa.

I called up DNA and they said they were going to send me some gaskets and bolts. So now I have to get an UP, call up Fred and get all gaskets & bolts, get some exhaust hangers, and that should be it.  .. oh yeah, I found out I'm gonna have to the that little 2.2 resistor - don't really understand that completely yet, but found the thread and will have to look back over it.

I appreciate all your guys' continual input and help.

I forget, and am too lazy to read back.....are you getting this tuned now that you're doing a full turbo back?  If so, why mess with the resistor?

So I don't need to mess with the resistor if getting a tune?  I see.

I do plan to get tuned, but that probably won't happen right away. So as long as having that CEL isn't detrimental to my car's health then I guess I can just ignore it for a while?

I may be tired, I'm drawing a blank.  The 2.2 resistor is to use when you don't have a bung in the up-pipe for that egt sensor, right?
My preference, since you haven't bought the UP yet, just buy one that has the bung and keep the sensor.

But if you buy one without the bung, yes, they should be able to turn the code off during the tune.  I don't think it hurts anything for a short time, but to be honest I'm not 100% at the moment, so don't take my word for it  :uglystupid2:

Ha, thanks man. Here's what I read real quick from Unabomber's Manifesto, Section: Up Pipe:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=443943
Quote
Do I need an EGT bung? No. The EGT bung is there for one purpose. It houses the EGT probe that monitors the exhaust temperature so the engine heat does not break down the catalytic converter element if the EGT becomes too hot. Since your new uppipe has no cat, you don't need an EGT probe.

My uppipe has an EGT bung, should I plug it or reinstall the stock EGT sensor? There is a chance down the road that EGT probe could burn up and pieces of it could be ingested by the turbo. Plugging it is the best option. You will need a M12x1.25 bolt. They can be tricky to find and many go to auto parts stores and ask for this type of oil drain bolt. True hardware stores are also a good place to find these. You may consider a jam nut if the bolt is too long, or you could trim it down to fit better. High temp thread locking compound is also an option.

What is the CEL fix? 2.2 KOhm 1/2 watt resistor. These are available at Radio Shack and are usually in stock. $1 buys you 6 of them. You place it in the EGT connector, which is the bottom connector just forward of your passenger side strut tower. It only has two holes, so jam one end of the resistor into each. If you do not use this resistor, you will probably end up with the CEL code P0546 = Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor Circuit Malfunction (High Input). ***NOTE***There are two CEL fixes for the WRX, the other one is the rear CEL code P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold, this code being caused by the lack of a catalytic converter in the downpipe. This is usually fixed with an electrical fix or mechanical fix. This notice, though not important to this thread, acknowledges there are two "CEL fixes" and defines them individually to avoid possible confusion.

I'm thinking I prefer to get a used STi UP without the heatshield or bung.
