Summer/all season? Brand preference? Mileage warranty? Budget?

I have yokohama s.drive in this exact size. Would recommend them all day. I also hear good things about general exclaim and you can sill get them on the cheap.

I 205/55r16  general exclaims....I loved everything about them (even on wet roads) except the squishy sidewalls, but that shouldn't be so bad on a 40 series tire.  I'd say give them a try for the price

Budget... Under 1000, closer to 800

looking for summer only. looking for something that will get me at least 3 season, 10-20k

no specific brand.

The yoko's how are they handling wise? are they autox tires?

so you would not recommend the exclaims for autox?

hell, the generals would probably be under $500

I can't say what about the 40 series sidewalls, they may be short enough to remain stiff enough....you'd have to find someone who's had that size to get their opinion

Not really sure what kind of specific tire the s.drives are I have never auto crossed. I do drive on them every day and did run a12.3 on them. I have snow tires for the winter so they never see snow. They are also great on the wet. I also looked at the dunlop star specs. Sick tire but I didn't want to shell out almost a grand. The yokohama s were right around 600 out the door and I wouldbuy them again in a second. If you want more options check out the hankook evo12. I did alot of research last time I bought tires. Good luck.

I love my 225/45R17 Bridgestone Potenza RE760's.  In the 5kmi I've had them for, they seem pretty quiet, decent response, and excellent grip (thrown hard into corners with no squeels of protest).  My recommendation is to have a Firestone pricematch Tirerack so if you ever have an issue, they can get you a tire instead of sending it back to TireRack and waiting for them.

And if you want something cheaper with better bang for the buck, the Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval Indy 500 are only $476 excluding shipping and road hazard.  They actually are rated the best in their category on Tirerack.

What do you guys think about the BFG Gforce KDW
http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/tire-selector/size/emetric/225/40/18/Y/g-force-t-a-kdw/tire-details

I have always been a fan of the way they look, just cool looking.

And since i can't seem to get Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 anymore (which were just outstanding tires, looked really cool too) i was thinking these.

Not really. They never seem to score all that well on any of the tests people run them through.

Examples:

If it were me...

I have no experience with kumho but I have heard negative things. The evo12 is a great tire I looked at them when I bought my s.drives. They were on back order at the tire place I went to so that was the deciding factor for me.but I think they are about the exact same tire. Advans are awesome tires, if you track your car and have track dedicated wheels to put them on but you do not want to daily drive these tires even the star specs I would not want to daily drive.

Just so expensive to drive on and replace. Treadlife is super low. Also for me, no sense in buying something so expensive and never REALLY use them or notice them. But to each their own.

I'm trying out the Yoko S.Drives on my car now.  Initial impressions are that they are way better than the stock Dunlops, but I only have maybe 50 miles on them.  Will see how they hold up.  They are an ultra high performance summer tire, but with the tread design they may chunk some at a track/autox event.  I don't really autox the car, so they will be fine for what I need.

I looked at the V12's and almost bought them, but some of the comments on the lack of sidewall stiffness worried me.  I probably will buy a set of them next time.  Or Star Specs.

Well get driving on them dammit!

Since i have about 2 weeks before i really need to order them... i want ur best opinion on them by then pleaseeeeeeeeee

I have always loved Advans, just never really needed them. But now since i actually have a daily driver and the wrx can sit and not wear good tires out for no reason i am looking at them.
See i never bought really good tires because i still needed to dd the car.

Wow.so after working about a million hours this week and reading over this I realized that I was thinking of the wrong advans. Still a touch pricy I thought cats were talking about the track advans. I was like what?
