Yea the front clip will def be black or straight up aluminum. Shocks not be painted at all and the pedal assy will be aluminum. Sill looking for seats, I am debating on buying brand new or trying to find something from a small car in a junk yard.

That's going to look cool.  the 100% paint-matched stuff is sort of dated.

Quote me now while I'm feeling good about it.  I've decided a WRX will be the vehicle that replaces the Jeep.  I can't see paying Evo prices or justifying purchasing a halfassed/beat to death example for the same asinine amount of money.  For an affordable, point to point, all-weather capable performance car, a wagon fits the bill.  A swapped wagon, even better.

Not matched enough, the wheels are white!  :-D

And hearkening back to the bedliner...  That's not a bad idea for the lower half, what with being fully exposed.

THE PAIN...  In the wrist!  Can you imagine keeping that CLEAN?!  It would work in snow, I guess, it looks like that's where this one is, judging by the outfits.  But to have a white one in NY...  all the places dirt could get...  Terrifying.

This is the design I have settled on. with any luck my buddy and I can pull something like this off. I want the off road look even though it will be 90% on road use.

Damn that will look sexy!  You'll have to take it to a sand pit at least once.

I am hoping the little 1500cc engine will be able to push those wheels. If not I will be looking at an engine upgrade sooner than I thought.

How exactly do these things work when it comes to getting them inspected?  Do they need to pass an emissions test, or do you just stick with a pre 97 chassis to avoid that?

They get registered as kit cars, I believe.  Meaning no requirements except lights.

Saw a 5-seat sandrail on Pawn Stars Last night.  royal blue, with a supercharged Chevy 350 with nitrous in the back.

Definitely cool projects, this one was 48k new from a fabricator, with an additional 21k in mods.  :idiot2:

They need a little more than that. All lights, rear view, windshield and wiper (can will be a hand operated lever type thing), front brakes, e-brake and seat belts.

One and a half more car payments, 1 court date and finding another insurance company and then I can start the rail project. The end of March cant come soon enough.

Hmm, it's really that little for a kitcar?  Dang, my idea might work then.

I've been meaning to do a complete engine rebuild for experience, and we've got a complete but horribly rusty MGA sitting on the lawn.  I'm thinking I'll tear the drivetrain (which is not too bad yet) out and make a similar style buggy (though more kart-ish, since front engine, and slower, since 1.5L).

I forgot rear brakes too, but I am sure that was assumed along with the e-brake.

Does anybody know of any VW buses rotting away in field somewhere or for sale? I am looking for a parts vehicle. The time is coming near to start this project.
