I filled up with Stewart's 93 on Saturday then drove to Vermont and back on Sunday. I got an amazing 320 miles out of 11.2 gallons. Yes that was 28mpg at stage 2.  <snip>

The last trip I made to Northern VT in my wrx I averaged 28 mpg.  It is also possible that I was doing 90 for a good part of it, though I might have imagined it.  :-)

So I think soon enough I will fill up entirely and try to track the actual mileage. If it's awful I'll replace plugs and fuel filter. But I've begun to realize that I can't force myself to drive like a grandma. I always have a little urge to use my ample power after 3,000 rpms that I just can't resist.

don't drive like a gramma to test it, but don't drive constant WOT either.  Just drive regular with a bit of both for a tank or two so you can find out if there is an issue other than your right foot, then you can figure out how much to compromise after that

Still no idea of whether or not to replace the CTS, eh.  I'd look there first before you think about plugs and fuel filter.  Check your air filter while you're at it and take a peek at O2 sensor readouts.  Reset your engine diagnostic computer and see how long it takes for your O2's and O2 Heater circuit monitors to activate.  If it's a long time, your O2's could be lazy and detecting false lean condition.
