« on: July 02, 2011, 04:36:36 PM »
Just bought my first STi. Its been my goal since I was 16 to own one of these beauties and I finally have it. I bought it off of a guy in Scotia (Guss from Precision Auto). Its very cleanly done and is absolutely gorgeous.

Modification List:

Engine/ Drive line:
FP Green
Ported TGV deletes.
Nismo 740cc injectors
APS 70MM intake, samco silicone inlet.
SMC/Labonte methanol injection. (SMCs system with a Labonte MAF based controller)
Aquamist dds3V8 failsafe and gauge
Equal length header with 38mm external gate.
Helix downpipe with cat. delete
Borla Hush "cat" back with kartboy hangers.
Blanketed turbo, wrapped header and up-pipe
Spec stage 2.5 clutch
All Kartboy/TIC shifter bushings with stock shifter

Suspension:
Koni single adjustable "yellow" struts.
RCE Yellow springs.
Whiteline upper camber plates.
Delrin bushings throughout
Whiteline 29mm adjustable front and 24mm adjustable rear bars.
Kartboy sway bar endlinks Front and Rear
Solid rear subframe lock bolts.
18x9 wheels with 235/40R18 Falkin azennis
17x7.5 stock silver BBS with 225/45R17 Dunlop Graspic snows

External:
STI limited rear lip
JDM fogs.
Cleared headlights

Just yesterday I installed my Avic Z2 screen with Sirius, bluetooth, etc. Much better looking than the single din that was in there.

since I cannot post in the classifieds yet, I am trying to find some "normal" strength springs for my trunk since it no longer has the heavy stock wing. If anyone can help me out I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks

Kenny

try PMing FastFreddyRs.  He works at Capitaland motors in Scotia if you want to buy any parts new at a good price, he's the guy to see.  But he also does a lot of parting out and selling used stuff.  I know a little while ago he had a shell to get rid of, if he still has it he might have the trunk springs still in it

Try removing one shock from your trunk setup, that should help out with the back window smashing force :coolsmiley:

I'll have to give that a shot. You mean one of the bars though right?? there are no shocks...

I personally have never looked but I'm pretty sure there are shocks under there somewhere isn't there? People usually swap them out when they swap trunks. It could
Be just the bars though.

they are torsion bars, not shocks/dampers.  You will need a large flat head or small prybar to get it out.  and a good grip on it so it doesn't fling out at you....work gloves wouldn't be a bad idea either

Can you just take one torsion bar off though to ease the spring rate? Obviously without it looking like complete a$$ with a bar just hanging around??

the one bar will come right out, you'll see, look in under the rear deck where the speakers are, there's one bar attached to each arm on the trunk.

I've heard of people doing it this way, but never seen in person how well it works.  Nothing to hurt by trying though, if it's not strong enough with one just reinstall till you find the right ones to use
