FastfreddyRs (Repairs/Maintenance & Parts)
« on: April 08, 2012, 07:18:00 PM »
FastfreddyRs: 5/5 stars

I've been meaning to write this for a while now, but just finally made the time. I wanted to publicly thank Fred helping me with my 02 WRX wagon. Fast, friendly service, great prices, all in all a nice experience and pleasure doing business with a cool guy. Just the way things should be.

Fred installed my turboback exhaust and got all the hangers, gaskets, and other hardware I needed for it. He also replaced by rear rotors and pads, spark plugs, changed the diff and motor oil, and replaced my AC pulley that had seized up a long time ago. When he was working on the car, he also let me know i had a torn up axle boot and replaced that a couple weeks later. I didn't have to worry about ordering that part, getting gaskets and hangers for the exhaust or hauling off the old parts. In my case, I had to leave the car at his shop for the weekend and wasn't going to be able to get a ride up and back from Albany, so he let me borrow his RS!

So, like I said, I just wanted to say thanks and give him a good review as I couldn't be happier and will definitely be going back for whatever else my car needs. I would recommend Fred to anyone who needs parts, repairs, or general maintenance for their Subie. The guy is obviously very knowledgeable, has had a lot of experience with subarus over the years doing some advanced projects and has a really nice STi.

I dunno, I think his location is just about perfect! 6/5 stars for Fred from me.  Great friend, mechanic.

I can't believe I haven't done one for him.  I have nothing but high praise for Fred.  He always answers questions fast and has a huge assortment of instant 'save my ass' parts and know-how.  Awesome.

He's saved my ass too.  Pulled an old steering rack out of his in-exhaustible supply of parts when my PS lines were trying to set the car on fire, knew the part number for the IM gaskets off the top of his head, too, though I still haven't gotten to use those yet.

I bet he can change a timing belt without lighting a car on fire as well!

I would hope most anybody could do that....  But I feel like there's a story here.

I helped Dreaded1 with his timing belt.  We lit his car on fire by accident.

Uh.  What part of the timing belt involves fire?  DID I DO MINE WRONG?!  OH GOD, HOLD ON, LET ME GO SET MY CAR ON FIRE!

...

Phew.  Right, now I finally did the timing belt right.

...

What's the best way to repair fire-damage?

Dont ever go to Fred for anything...

No not really.  If I could only tell you the number of times Fred has pulled me out of trouble. He has fixed, replaced, and upgraded 2/3 of my subarus and has saved me more then I can even explain to you all. Parts come super cheep. Plus he sold me the white beast I rally.
Whoever smelt it dealt it.

Nah, that's what your loud pedal and stereo are for!   Ah, to have new car where squeaks are annoying, not normal...
