2015 NEHA Schedule
« on: March 26, 2015, 01:16:52 PM »
Ascutney 1:    May 15-17
Burke:            June 6-7 (this may change to the following weekend)
Okemo 1:       July 11-12
Okemo 2:       August 15-16
Ascutney 2:    September 19-20
Philo:              October 17-18
No Mount Washington this year, possibly 2017.

There are only 6 races this year as we consider ourselves lucky to still have Burke. Burke has undergone new ownership, the same people whom own Jay Peak and they seem to think they can do to Burke what they have done to Jay. For people who dont know, Jay was a quaint mountain, kinda old-school, and it has turned into a monstrosity. Both times we visitied Burke last year the owners had scheduled weddings the same weekend and at both events we had to be off the hill at 2pm, much to the disappointment of the organizers and participants. The organizers weren't told until the day beforehand and when contracts were signed before the season began there was no mention of weddings on the same day. Nevertheless, every time we visit Burke from now on it could potentially be the last, which is a shame because it is one of the better hills. Anyways, should be a good season!

Cheers y'all's !!

What is the entry fee for these events? Couldn't find it on the website. Also what's the deadline for entry (unless it fills obviously)? Specifically interested in Okemo 2 and Philo

If you join KSCC, SCCV or SCCNH the events are $160, otherwise they are $180.
Sign up usually starts about a month before the event. All events can be entered by printing out the entry forms on the NEHA site and mailed in, and Ascutney and Philo are also on Motorsportreg.com. The deadline is Saturday morning the weekend of the race if there are still openings. If an event hasn't filled beforehand some people show up and register that morning but it gets dicey because tech inspections Saturday morning are from 6-7 am for the straglers, worker meeting is at 7, driver meeting at 7:15 and we start our runs at 8. They prefer that everyone sign up early and show up for tech Friday night which is from about 5 till dark because the next morning goes so much smoother.

I'll try to get to one, but I'll be in Ithaca this summer, so it's a much longer trip, and it means hotels.  We'll see (I know, I know, I've said that before).

Christ that is a long haul. Keep in mind you can pitch a tent at Burke, Ascutney and Philo, no camping at Okemo!

Yeah...  Guess which ones I'm most likely to get to?   I'm trying to figure out what will swing, what won't, unfortunately the SCDA events are all on weekdays, but there's autocross, etc.  Right now I'm just trying to make sure I have a place to sleep!

Ascutney 1 not looking possible for me... My motor has no cams in it atm. Waiting for new valve adjusters.. Which appear to be coming in Wednesday this week... Soo... With out a trailer, and no time for testing doubtful I'll make it.

So I came up with 1.02 cc/lb on the supra (2800cc x 1.10)/3000lb
Street prepared.. Should I run 5 or 4 (2wd only)

Quote
STREET PREPARED CLASSES
Street Prepared 4 2WD Less than 1.500 cc/lb
Street Prepared 5 Less than 1.060 cc/lb

I dont think your springs, shocks and rear swaybar are enough to push you into SP, I believe you would be U4. If they are enough to bump you, you would most likely be in SP5.

Battery is relocated. Emissions are deleted.

I may also exceed 95db? But I may just be close to it. Lol... My ears ring after a drive.

Tech might have a decible meter in their toolbox but ive never seen anyone reach for it, they are not going to send you home for blowing a 100db. I know for a fact that many are well over 95, this guy included!!

One of the Mazda guys did Ascutney recently, and has me thinking terrible thoughts .

Quote from: REARDRV;6382538
Hi Folks!

I just did my first hillclimb this past weekend in my Girlfriends autocross car, a STF Mazda2. Long story short, despite it DEFINITELY being a momentum car which I not Quite as used to I figured it out and managed first in class. But I was the only car in U6, so I guess I was last in class too. ;P
I did however run some significantly faster times than some MUCH more powerful cars in other classes. U6 is supposed to be the slowest class, not so this past weekend. The surprised look on other drivers faces when I informed them of my times was pretty enjoyable. Attached below is a video of my fastest lap. Sorry for the shakiness near the top, I can best describe the last section of road after the bridge as like driving on a field of basketballs. Enjoy!

Ascutney is very rough after the bridge, it took one of the bearings in my camber plates last month and my power steering pump crapped itself and many other people had ish as well but it's still awesome, my least favorite hill but still a damn good time!
I took 1st in class and 3rd overall at Burke! If you guys join the Facebook groups 'New England Hillclimb Association' and 'New England Hillclimb Series' you'll get see all the pics and vids from the events, the Neha website gets very little action these days!  Okemo next month, less than 2 hours away from the Albany area! If you are signing up do it NOW! Entry form can be found on Neha site, no motorsportreg for this one!
Cheers!

Okemo was tight!

The Good:
1st in class, 3rd overall, 48 entries. Ran a 2:20, 2 seconds quicker than last year at 115 which was 4 mph faster.
Everyone who made it through Sunday either PR'd or came damn close.

The Not-So-Good:
We had a Forester encounter a tank slapper and he ended up with about +50 degress of cambah on the left rear.
A neon didn't check his quick release and the steering wheel came off mid run, nosed it into a snow making pole.
One of the bikes went down, hard, ended up with an ambulance ride to the nearest hospital with a broken wrist, concussion and a cracked T12 vertebra. He had surgery last night and all went well.
