I've seen this done a few times on mk3 supras. It's a really neat thing. They also can use evo? I believe rear brembos.
Now I know wrxs usually can use their sti counterparts brakes with little modification but it's still very expensive.
My question is do you guys think or know of any other things like this that work, say for wrx/ Subarus or any car.

I really like this mod because it's cheap, easy and effective. And thought I'd share for anyone who thought it was cool. But gee wouldn't it be nice to find one that worked for Subarus

Cheap and brakes are 2 words i tend to avoid in the same sentence.

If you wanna upgrade the brakes on your WRX, the 4pot/2pot is the easiest, readily available, no issue upgrade.

If you are just daily driving, or occasionally beating on the car, a set of quality rotors and good pads will be more than enough for your car with the stock brake calipers.

I don't think the 4 pots are worth it tbh. And I thought this video was interesting and cool if there happened to be something for Subarus out there.

I know I could do 4 pots up front and buy larger rotors for the back along with outback caliper brackets to make the rears bigger. But I still wouldn't mind some big brembos off some old merc or something.

They use the 4pot/2pot setup in motorsports, since you can run a 16in and some 15in wheels with them. With the proper pad and rotor, they actually have similar power to brembro's.

I wouldn't suggest going to big brembo's off whatever you think will work, brake systems have hours/dollars of engineering in them to perform safely and reliably. Different/insufficient brake booster/master cylinder size could pose a problem, and ABS could malfunction unless disabled creating bigger problems in the winter.

I gotta say I'm in the same boat with the naysayers on this one.  I'm all for DIY money saving, I'm a firm believer in not needing big name brands to find quality parts, and all that stuff.....but cheap cobb jobs on the things that stop my car from running into things?  I'd need a LOT more reassurance than just the fact that the pieces bolt up.  Pitcrew brings up very valid concerns with the booster/cylinder and ABS systems

Used, but Relatively cheap/easy.  A good start.  H6 or legacy turbo rear upgrade, and it's gonna be a balanced system.  That's what I run.  Pedal feel is a little soft, but without ABS, a little extra modulation/pedal travel adds some safety overhead.

I love me a brake/suspension discussion.  SSBC used to make Big brake kits for subarus but a cursory check on their website doesn't show them anymore.  They were pretty inexpensive for fixed-caliper 4-piston units.  The cheapest big brake kit solution for most subarus is still probably the 4th generation Legacy GT calipers and rotors.  For 07 and older imprezas, you need the Kartboy adapter bracket that they sell for the 'red' 2-pot rears.  They're heavy, but all 4 rotors are vented.  The front rotors are bigger than the red 4-pots.  Throw in some stainless lines, aggressive pads, and you have a pretty good OEM engineered setup, that won't stress most of subaru's OEM master cyls.  The main downsides are weight, ugliness, and sliding caliper versus a fixed unit.

As with any mod, you have to figure out what you're gonna use the car to plan for brakes that will fit your application the best.  I like the "Reds" for a street setup(so you can still run 16" winter tires) and autocross.  Brembo take-offs are huge cash and just to add unsprung weight and higher cost of pads/rotors over the life of the units.  You used to be able to find better deals, but now, not so much.

My setup on 2002 wrx

Front: LGT Turbo (4th gen) calipers, rotors, pads
Rear: H6 rotors.

Overall I achieved my goals.  If I were to do it I'd make caliper mounts and use LGT rotors and  bigger master cylinder.

Not sure what the biggest bore MC is.  Its been a long time since I looked through the Subaru parts catalog.  I'd check the STi and cars that came with larger brakes, and certainly the newer models as cars keep getter bigger and heavier.

I spent about $70 for the front hardware for the larger rotors (rotors and pads are consumable so I'm not factoring them) and didn't have to bleed them.  The rears would require bleeding, but even the LGT rear brake setup is only about $180.

Pretty competitive price point compared to BremBROs.

You think the H6 are a better option than the LGTs?  I was worried the LGT rears might be too big.

I don't think anything after the hawkeye fits anymore, but I also don't think the STi MC is any bigger.  I'll start looking around.
