Women drivers!!
« on: March 02, 2017, 09:10:35 PM »
Figured that get attention........  Woman smacked a curb in the 09 legacy and an alignment shop said she bent her rear trailing arm.   Installation of it looks like a bitch just because of everything you have to remove like the hub, e-brake, etc.   I've never don'e an e-brake assembly,  is it hard?

I'm debating between getting a trailing arm for $75 or this for $150

If the extra parts should only take an hour or so,  i'll suck it up.

Also, should I be able to pull the entire assembly in that picture with a hub puller?  Anyone know if there are bolts that hold the trailing arm in place, or is it held on by all the other suspension bits mounted on it?

Did I mention that I have to move and my garage is half full of shit I moved out of the house already and the other half i a dead toyota that wont start?....  :knuppel2:

I haven't done an ebrake on an 05-09 legacy, but did play with it on my Baja when I had it.  It's not a difficult to understand assembly/disassembly but getting the springs off/on, or the cable off/on can be a bit annoying.

I don't think you need a hub puller to get that whole assembly off, just unbolt everything.  How rusty/stuck those bolts are though, that's the question.  Good luck!

I didn't use a hub puller when I replaced the bearings in my 09, but it would depend on how rusted in they are.  I have a pdf of the service manual if you need it. It looks like the only bolts are the ones in the bracket towards the front, and then all the stuff that connects and hangs from the arm.

Don't forget the stock rotors have an 8mm threaded spot to help remove the rotor.
