Rear suspension noise

I have a 2006 Wrx (130,000 mi) the car has a koni/GC setup on it with group-n top hats. was getting a noise from the rear of the car whenever I hit a small bump recently. Was pretty sure it was strut clunk since the setup had probably about 50,000 mi on it. Installer brand new koni yellows and group n top hats at all four corners. I went and drove the car after and it is still making a “clunking” noise in the rear....


Any suggestions ?

Oh boy, the dreaded  "identify that clunk over the internet" post lol

If the noise persisted after new struts, time to crawl under there and start shaking things.
I'd start with the easy ones, check the bushings on the sway bar, and jiggle the exhaust.  Sounds too easy, but i've had both sway bushings and saggy exhaust hangers cause clunks  that sounded and acted like they were coming from the struts. Worth a shot anyway

Get your rear end up on jack stands.  Crawl under there and shake everything in every direction.  with that many miles on our shitty roads it could be any number of things.

Also,  consider your budget and Time.   After doing a few onsie twosie components on the MR2,  I decided to buy in bulk and do in bulk.  Save a lot of time so you don't have to keep ripping the same parts off over and over just to replace 1 thing at a time.

+1 for buying in bulk and doing it all at once.  I did all of my transmission/shifter bushings/pitch stop at once to save a considerable amount of time than doing it piece by piece along with flushing my transmission fluid/changing the oil.  Same things with amassing Stage 2 components so I only have to do it all in one shot.

Also when it comes to Endlinks, buy Dremel blades/cutting wheels in bulk too.  I don't remember the last subaru i worked on that more than 1 endlink came off without cutting.

     shouldn't be too much of a problem. My car has only seen one winter in its life, the only rust i have on my car is a dusting of it under my rear diff. But I wouldn't be surprised if its multiple worn items since its been on 450lb springs for about 7 years and I use to autox a lot.

     shouldn't be too much of a problem. My car has only seen one winter in its life, the only rust i have on my car is a dusting of it under my rear diff. But I wouldn't be surprised if its multiple worn items since its been on 450lb springs for about 7 years and I use to autox a lot.

Sounds like proper subaru-ing.
